Week 2, Post 3 (#6)

  1. In this chapter I think Amir shows how he has changed and matured. With all the moving pieces in his life I think he handles it very well. For example when Amir dad died, he didn't fully cave away and let his life be ruined. He comes to realize how his father made him the person he is today. Also we see Amir and Soraya get married, which is big for Amir and shows how he has truly grow into adult. Amir also thinks of Hassan at his wedding which I did not really understand, and wasn’t sure if it was Hassan’s own wedding or Amir wishing he would be at his.

  2. In Chapter 12 Baba finds out he has lung cancer and tells Amir. But for some reason Baba doesn't want Amir to tell anyone. I wonder if Amir will keep this secret? I don't understand why Baba refuses the treatment and Amir does know how to handle this. Amir wants to marry Soraya and tells his father and asks General Taheri for his approval. Soraya has to confess some things to Amir that are deep but he still wants to marry her. When Baba dies Amir is not as upset and discombobulated as you would think, he takes it well. A lot of Baba’s friends and associates are at the funeral. Amir and Soraya want to have a baby but they are having issues even after they move to San Francisco. Amir also completes his first novel and publishes it. In chapter 14 Amir has a dream of Hassan running in the snow, I wonder if this is foreshadowing an appearance of Hassan in Amir’s life. Rahim Khan wants Amir to come visit in Pakistan because he is also now very ill. If Rahin Khan dies I wonder how Amir will be affected knowing that Rahim was one of Amir's first friends who was an adult?

  3. In these chapters we see Baba learn about his cancer, pass away, meet and eventually marry his wife and learn that his wife has unexplained infertility and they will not be able to continue their bloodline. With all of these big events and new moving parts of Amir's life I would think that he would begin to break down, there has been so much tragedy brought to him but he still manages to stay strong and keep going (mostly with the support of Soraya).

  4. In these chapters, Amir seems to be mautirng and shaping the man he wants to be. We find out that Baba has been diagnosed with lung cancer. In which he eventually does die. From this we can understand that Baba was always Amir’s influential mentor in his life. Amir eventually marries the Genreal’s daugter, Soraya. With this Amir’s life moves one more step. Amir also continues his passion in literature with already writing two books.

  5. These 3 chapters were a real handful but I'm just gonna try to summarize the main points of these chapters.Ok we first start with Amir learning that his father Baba has gotten lung cancer and he doesn't want to get any treatment which by the way is the stupidest thing I have heard in this novel.Ok let's just carry on from that dumpster fire statement and continue on,Amir now wants to marry the General's daughter Sotaya he later does so even after learning that she was in a past relationship even if he is a little bit upset about it.They plan the wedding pretty quickly since Amir wants Baba to be there for his wedding,They soon have it and a bit after that Baba dies.Amir plans Baba funerals and huge amount of Baba’s friends attend it Amir later learns that one of his first adult friends Rahim Khan has gotten very ill.Amir later plans on going back to Pakistan to visit him.while in bed Amir thinks about his love life with his wife in the past they used to talk about making love and having a kid but now they only work on other things. In his dream he sees Hassan running through the snow I WONDER IF THIS IS FORESHADOWING SOMETHING HMMMM.

  6. In these 3 chapters we basically learned that Amir has been maturing day by day. We find out that Baba has lung cancer. Eventually he dies and I feel like Amir might not handle it that well. But he gets married to Soraya which she keeps him strong and Amir keeps living his life. We also learn that Amir has written two books and his passion in literature grows.

  7. these few chapters were filled with lots of memories from the past and regret. In chapter 15, Amir goes to see Rahim Khan, on his way he sees that the place where he grew up has changed so much since his last appearance there. When Amir sees Rahim, he describes him as a thing made out of skin and bones , to show that he is not doing so well. We can see throughout this chapter Rahim is dying. Rahim is lonely because almost everyone he knew and talked to fled the country. In chapter 17 we learn from Rahim that Hassan and his wife were shot.

  8. Baba has lung cancer, we discover. He loses in the end, and I have a suspicion Amir won't be able to deal with it properly. But he marries Soraya, who keeps him strong, and Amir proceeds to live his life. Amir is also pursuing his interest for literature, having previously published two books.
