I noticed at the end of the chapter Baba says some of the stuff his teacher said was out of jealousy and this lines up with the context of when this book to place because at the time Afghanistan was mainly confined to Kabul. I also can see a little bit of jealousy with Amir and how he envy’s Hassan's athletic ability. Amir also has a very strong desire to be like his father even when they aren't similar. Amir also says that he has to win the Kite tournament to make for killing his mother. Amir seems to believe that he is the reason his mother dies and he thinks he has to make up for it by being like his father and winning the kite tournament. -Saer Sicignano
I definitely agree and also see the jealousy between Hassan and Amir. I think this will also lead to Amir acting out of emotion towards Hassan, rather then true thought of action coming from Amir.
I agree with your connection to Gene being jealous of Phinny and how Amir also feels envious but towards Hassan and his athleticism and the attention he receives from Baba. But in this case Amir shouldn't feel envy towards Hassan and no one else really does but in A Separate Piece a lot of people for jealousy towards Phinny(not only gene). The novels are also simaler in that one would consider the other as a best friend but the other cant seem to feel that way. In The Kite Runner Amir doesn't consider Hassan his best friend and in A Separate Piece Gene doesn't think of Phinny as a best friend.
In chapter 6 we are introduced to the significance and relation of the title ̈Kite Runner. ̈ This relation is that every year the boys buy kites and see which one of their kites will land last, determining the winner of the contest. I feel this contest is signactact because it shows Hassan's ability compared to the other
boys Baba and Amir. Also I think it creates and represents an ongoing conflict between Amir and Hassan. In chapter 7 we see the author use the literary device of foreshadowing. This is through the dreams of Hassan. Also Flashback was used to show the memories Hassan contained of Amire. AlsoIn chapter 7 when Hassan was raped and beatean up, but I think the more symbolic part is when Amir runs away not helping Hassan. I think this further shows the conflict between the two characters but also the lake of loyalty of Amir To Hassan. - James Minotti
I have started to notice that Amir's dark/mean thoughts about Hassan route from the fact that his father favors Hassam over Amir because he is more like him. Because Hassan is more athletic and enjoys playing outside more that Amir, Baba has a better relationship with him rather than Amir which I find strange because Amir is baba's son and in most cases if a son has different interests than his father the father just accepts that and tries to get into the same things as his son so they have more in common, however this might be different in afghanistan in 1970 rather than the U.S.A. in 2021. I think that the dynamic between Amir and his father is very sad. Amir idolizes baba, he wants to make him happy and proud but he also sees that baba does not care for him as much as he would like and this makes amir sad because he tries his best to please baba. This eventually leads to Hassan getting beat up at the end of chapter 7 because Amir wanted to get the blue kite to show off to baba and didn't want to risk losing it.
I noticed in this chapter that Amir is kind of getting mad that Baba favors Hassan more because he is more like Baba than Amir is. We also see how Hassan is pretty athletic and also likes playing outside more than Amir which makes sense because of how poor Hassan's family is so it makes sense he would play outside more than Amir.
The bullies that were messing around with Amir and Hassan will appear later in the group or be represented by someone extremely racist and trying to oppress Hassan’s people. I wonder how kites will be shown later in the novel. Amir’s dad treats both of them very equally and whatever Amir wants he will also buy it for Hassan. When Amir is talking with his dad and he says he might win and I think he might hurt Hassan or something bad might happen.
In chapter 6 we are presented with conflict between Amir and Hassan. Specifically involving Amir’s father favortism of Hassan. Both boys had different physiques. Hassan was very built and had the confidence of a lion. Amir was unathaltic kid who took studies more into favor. We also learn of the kite game which could foreshadow a fracture into their relationship. IN chapter 7 We learn of Hasan stepping up to these bullies. Amir does eventually win the kite game as well. But in this chapter I see a big similarity between this book and a separate peace. -Matthew Gutierrez
The chapter begins with the boys being happy since winter has just begun and there father gave them a kite so they could compete and win the kite runner competition. This chapter is going to be nice and normal you think but you couldn't be more mistaken even if you tried. The villain Amir strikes again while Hassan is recovering the kite. Some bullies showed up and imprisoned Hassan and gave him the opinion to give them the kite and get his freedom back or they will ̈mess ̈ him.Hassam choses option 2 and runs away like a coward and let's the bullies have there way like ̈Good friend that he is ̈ I guess this is a continuation of my first post of Amir the villain.-Diogo Alarcon
Baba Favors Hassain over Amir and It shows in the chapters. I feel like in the future Amir is going to start to envy Hassian because Amir always wanted him fathers attention and Baba enjoys Hassian more because of Hassains masculinity/ Athleticism. Hassan for example plays outside a lot more and enjoys it more than Amir. -Ryan Walsh
In this chapter, I saw that Amir is irritated by Baba's preference for Hassan, who is more like Baba than Amir. We also note that Hassan is quite athletic and prefers to play outside more than Amir, which makes sense given Hassan's family's financial situation.- bella gosh
in these chapters we saw more of Amir’s and Hassan’s relationship with one another. I found it interesting how in the beginning of chapter 6 they talked about the kite fighting tournament and how they compared it to the war that was going on. We see how strong Amir and Hassan's relationship is after Amir cut himself on a rock and they have a discussion in the field. We hear that Hassan would do anything for Amir and he would be honest with him. In chapter 7, we see that Hassan is the true friend to Amir, and not the other way around. Amir does not help Hssan when he is confronted by Aseef and his friends, instead Amir runs away. This is upsetting to me because I thought that they would both do anything for one another. -Yanna

DeleteI agree, I feel like Amir will end up getting very upset and act erratically towards Hassan.
