Chapter 23 was pretty interesting for Amir. He clearly struggled to stay mentally stable, and seemed pretty “worn out” from everything that was going on in his life. This was shown to me when he dreamed of random things like Baba wrestling a bear. We also see Amir’s mine track back to an old man various times in this chapter. This confused me because I didn’t really know who it was, or what it was supposed to symbolize for Amir. In this chapter we also see Rahim leave and tell Amir not to come looking for him. I think this confuses Amir but also hurts when Rahim leaves him.
In this chapter, Amir and Sohrab are in the car headed to the hospital. When he arrives there the docters immediately examine him and figure out he has broken ribs, punctured lung, fractured spleen, etc. Farid has informed that Rham Kham Has left and has money kept away for Amir. When they have been informed that the Taliban are on their backs. They must travel toward Islamabad. Amir is also taking Shorhab. I believe that Amir will take on Shorhab as his son. Due to the fact that orphanges will do no good for him. And as remorseful thing he could for his father and Hassan.
In this chapter we see Amir dreaming in and out and waking up in the hospital. Sohrab is at the hospital with Amir but Amir is very beat up and injured. We see Sohrab is very quiet and shy towards Amir but I have a feeling this will change. I would assume Sohrab is similar to Hassan in ways meaning that they will get along with eachother very well. Because there is no American couple to take Sohrab, Amir decides its not a good environment in Peshawar and doesn't want to Sohrab to stay. My prediction is that because Amir is unable to have a child he will adopt/ raise Sohrab because he and Soraya were looking to raise a child. He also wouldn't trust anyone else to raise someone as important to him as Sohrab. -Saer Sicignano
I think that this chapter was very poetic. In the aftermath of the fight with assef Amir is left with a cleft lip just like hassan. This means alot because the cleft lip was one of the main things that Hassan was made fun for and because Hassan was made fun of, that caused Amir to gradually despise him, in the end Amir is left with one of the main things he began to hate about Hassan which I think is very powerful. The other thing that I have to say about this chapter is that I definitely think that Amir will be adopting Sohrab because he has nowhere else to go and in most cases in books, movies, and TV shows with orphans the main character winds up adopting them.
In chapter 23 Amir dreams of some strange thing such as Baba fighting a bear and Amir meets Baba’s eyes and realizes he was the one fighting Baba.He finally wakes up and finds out he is in a hospital. His mouth was wired Shut and his ribs were all cracked and the after results from his fight with Assef left him looking like a complete trainwreck. Sorab and Farid are there with him and he thanks them both. They have come with a note from Rahim stating that he knows about what happened him and Hassan and even though what Amir did was wrong but he knows part of the reason was for how Baba treated him.Rhaim states that the orphanage Baba built was a way for him to redeem himself.and he blames Amir for the thing he did while he was still to young.Rahim left a key to a safe-deposit box that will cover Amir’s expenses. Amir leaves to go to Islamabad and takes Sohrab with him. -Diogo Alarcon
in this chapter, we see Amir fade in and out of consciousness and the aftermath of the fight with Assef. During this time we understand how amir changed so much from when he was a boy hiding while his friend got raped, to now where he got into a big fight with the same guy who also had Hassan’s son. -yanna
Amir wakes up in the hospital after having a series of dreams in which he enters and exits. Sohrab is with Amir at the hospital, but Amir is badly hurt. Sohrab appears to be quiet and reserved with Amir, but I believe this will change. I believe Amir will adopt Sohrab because he has nowhere else to go and since the main character in most books, movies, and TV shows about orphans adopts them.
While Amir is drifting in and out of consciousness in the hospital he dreams of Baba wrestling a bear. This must have some significant meaning however, I don’t know what it is. It turns out that Rahim Khan did not have people to take care of Sohrab. Since Sohrab doesn’t have anyone to take care of him and Afghanistan is not safe, it only makes sense that Amir would adopt Sohrab. Especially since Amir let down Hassan as a kid. This would be his chance in the novel to redeem himself.
